We invite patients and public to discover how their eye data is making a difference to research.
On Thursday 22nd May, INSIGHT is hosting a health data research pop-up at Moorfields Eye Hospital. Patients, staff, and members of the public are invited to come along and find out firsthand how eye data — routinely collected when a patient has an eye scan - is helping to advance earlier detection, treatment and care of disease.
INSIGHT director, Pearse Keane, will be on hand to share some of the world-leading artificial intelligence (AI) work his lab is leading, building on the Moorfields - Google DeepMind collaboration. Pearse is Professor of Artificial Medical Intelligence at UCL’s Institute of Ophthalmology and a consultant ophthalmologist at Moorfields.

The event provides an opportunity to meet Pearse, INSIGHT’s team of research data scientists, and members of INSIGHT’s patient representative group. The team will be available to answer questions and explain the role of patient data in research.
The pop-up event is part of INSIGHT’s ongoing Data Saves Sight campaign, informing patients how their eye health data is routinely collected, and may be anonymised for use in research. The campaign also highlights every patient’s right to opt out of sharing their health data for research via the national opt-out.
We welcome patients to stop by, discover how eye health data is enabling research, ask questions, and find out how to get involved as a patient representative.
WHEN: Thursday 22nd May, 11am - 3pm
WHERE: The exhibition space in the entrance corridor of Moorfields at 167 City Rd, London EC1V 2PD. The exhibition space is located in between the Friends of Moorfields health hub and Moorfields Eye Charity hub.
