Pathway: The data is derived from routinely collected data as part of patient care at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. It is representative of urban (ethnically and socioeconomically diverse) populations attending hospital eye services. Referrals to hospital eye services primarily come from either primary care (GPs and community optometry), the national screening service for diabetic eye disease, and emergency attendances to the Trust accident and emergency department. As a tertiary level unit for certain eye diseases, the Trust also receives referrals for rare eye disease, including inherited retinal disease, intraocular inflammation and ocular oncology.
